JIMI HENDRIX Live Recordings Not Headed To Wolfgang's Vault Web Site

June 12, 2008

According to The Pulse of Radio, Jimi Hendrix's record label says that there are presently no plans to issue any of his live recordings through their recent agreement with the vintage live music outlet Wolfgang's Vault.

Billboard reported that Hendrix's label Universal Music Enterprises (UME) has partnered with the website Wolfgang's Vault, which controls the archives of the late promoter Bill Graham, who recorded literally hundreds of the shows he promoted. Prior to that, a select number of shows were also available to fans to hear via streaming audio on the WolfgangsVault.com web site.

A spokesperson for UME told Billboard, "UME will only be releasing those performances to which they have rights or can acquire rights from the artists concerned. UME is just beginning the process of clearing rights and any speculation as to which performances will be released is premature. And, contrary to any previous reports, the estate of Jimi Hendrix has not granted any rights to the release of Hendrix's performances and any claims that indicate otherwise are not correct."

Jimi Hendrix's music licensing and intellectual property is controlled by family-run estate Experience Hendrix, L.L.C.
