JON OLIVA'S PAIN Mourns Loss Of Producer/Engineer

JON OLIVA'S PAIN, the band led by SAVATAGE mastermind Jon Oliva, has released the following statement:

"It is with extreme sorrow and heavy heart that we must report the tragic and untimely passing of Greg 'Super-G' Marchak... our beloved friend, JON OLIVA'S PAIN producer and engineer. Greg suffered an anyeurism on Thursday evening and never recovered.

"This is a tragedy beyond words for all of us in JON OLIVA'S PAIN, his family and the many friends, bands, and musicians that had the privilege of knowing and working with such a wonderful human being. Greg was an original and has left a whole in all our hearts.

"Greg was not only an incredible person, but he was the funniest guy we knew. He made everyone laugh! The talent, experience and enthusiasm he brought to the JON OLIVA'S PAIN CDs and live shows can never be duplicated. He was the glue that pulled the band and our sound together in the studio and on the road. They didn't call him Super-G for nothing! It is a loss without description. Greg was one of us and always will be!

"We love you and miss you, Greg. We know that you are now running the soundboard in the sky....

"May you rest in peace!"

JON OLIVA'S PAIN is scheduled to enter Audio Lab Studios in Tampa, Florida later this month to begin recording its third album for a tentative February 28, 2008 release via Germany's AFM Records. The group will embark on a select-city North American run in early 2008 with an eye towards a full tour in the fall.

JON OLIVA'S PAIN's last CD, "Maniacal Renderings", entered the German national chart at position No. 86 upon its release in September 2006. The follow-up to 2004's "'Tage Mahal" was recorded at Audio Lab Studios in Tampa, Florida and is described in a press release as "a more progressive, complex and dramatic edge without sacrificing any of the songwriting quality that fans have come to expect during Oliva's 25-year career."
