JONATHAN DAVIS On New KORN Album Coming Out At Same Time As Latest Releases From SLIPKNOT And TOOL: 'It's Good To Be In Good Company'

September 19, 2019

In a brand new interview with Australia's Maniacs, KORN frontman Jonathan Davis was asked if he was "feeling a little déjà vu" knowing that the band's new album, "The Nothing", was being released around the same time as new LPs from TOOL and SLIPKNOT.

"It's good to be in good company," he said. "You know, SLIPKNOT's doing really good. I've been watching those guys since they were just little fucking kids beating the fuck out of each other on stage. I remember when [producer] Ross Robinson told me, "Dude, I found this crazy band from Iowa. You've gotta see this. They are crazy insane and wear masks.' And he was so excited. And to see what they've blossomed into is amazing. And then fuck, everyone's been waiting for a TOOL record for how long? They're an amazing band. It just feels really good to see, you know? It feels like a camaraderie of bands. One band being successful helps all of us because we're becoming a dying breed.

"I feel like since the music industry took a turn that there's no more labels willing to spend money to help rock artists be bigger than life. It's just straight to hip-hop and R&B and stuff. It's awesome to see that bands like us are still out there doing this and we're flying the flag for rock and roll. There's still people who want to come see that and enjoy that."

"The Nothing" was released on September 13 via Roadrunner/Elektra. The follow-up to 2016's "The Serenity Of Suffering" was once again produced by Nick Raskulinecz.

In addition to first single "You'll Never Find Me", KORN released the "Cold" and "Can You Hear Me" songs prior to "The Nothing"'s arrival.

KORN recently wrapped a cross-country North American headlining tour and is slated to take the stage at Sacramento's Aftershock festival on October 13. The band's 2020 touring plans have not yet been announced.

"The Serenity Of Suffering" debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 and received a Grammy Award nomination for best metal performance for lead single "Rotting In Vain".
