March 19, 2009

JudasPriestWorld.com, a global fan project supported by JUDAS PRIEST fans from all over the world, has been launched to to celebrate the band's 40th anniversary.

Commented the people behind the site: "It took us 6 months to set up the site.

We have collected a huge archive from unseen video footage and very rare photographs. Some of them are already uploaded, but we chose to update the site every week with items from the vault and with the latest news about the band and their ex-members.

"Our link section contains a huge overview from all the producers, fansites, writers, tributebands, ex-members etc..

"Beside that we have for the first time published a factsheet about the band.
The factsheet shows the visitor what JUDAS PRIEST has achieved in the past 40 years.

"One of the main achievements of the band is their 1,700 tourdates, which we have published on the Tourpages. This results in a list of 1,200 bootleg recordings, another achievement in the entertainment industry.

"We also published all the magazine covers from 1979 till 2009, JUDAS PRIEST were 275 times on the frontpage of a magazine.

"We have also free competitions with nice prizes."

JUDAS PRIEST will celebrate the 30th anniversary of its album "British Steel" by performing the LP in its entirety during the band's U.S. 2009 summer tour.

PRIEST competed last month for a Grammy Award in the "Hard Rock" category for "Visions" and "Metal" category for "Nostradamus", a pair of tunes from the band's 16th studio album, "Nostradamus".

According to Reuters/Billboard, JUDAS PRIEST's Sony BMG label puts sales of "Nostradamus" at 500,000 units worldwide; that includes 100,000 logged by Nielsen SoundScan in the United States.
