JUDAS PRIEST's RICHIE FAULKNER On Music-Streaming Services: 'There's Pros And Cons Everywhere'
May 14, 2019In a brand new interview with "Arroe: View From The Writing Instrument", JUDAS PRIEST guitarist Richie Faulkner was asked for his views on music-streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music. He said (hear audio below): "Like everything these in the connected age that we live in, there's pros and cons everywhere. I've seen younger people… When things go away, like vinyl, when vinyl comes back again, they haven't seen it, so it's something new, and they're not interested in on-demand music — they want something tangible; they want something they can hold and look at.
"It's great to have music that accessible — where if you wanted to go and get it, you just go and get it," he continued. "But at the same time, I understand how it's changed the industry.
"I think there's always a way to get your music out there, and people are finding ways of doing that," he added. "No one's figured it out completely, I don't think, but everyone's tried to make it work. Again, there's pros and cons everywhere, man."
Faulkner joined PRIEST in 2011 as the replacement for original guitarist K.K. Downing.
Richie was once the guitarist in the backing group for Lauren Harris, daughter of IRON MAIDEN bassist Steve Harris.
JUDAS PRIEST has just returned to the United States for a run with fellow classic heavy rockers URIAH HEEP. The 32-date trek kicked off on May 3 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida and will wrap on June 29 at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.
JUDAS PRIEST is touring in support of its latest album, "Firepower", which was released in March 2018 via Epic. The disc entered the Billboard 200 chart at position No. 5, making it the band's highest-charting album ever.
The "Firepower" chart position was bolstered by sales generated from a concert ticket/album sale redemption offer in association with the band's spring 2018 North American tour.
