KAI HANSEN Talks GAMMA RAY, UNISONIC In New Video Interview

December 14, 2011

HeavyWorlds.com conducted an interview with guitarist/vocalist Kai Hansen of German power metallers GAMMA RAY when the band played at the Winter Masters Of Rock festival on November 26, 2011 in Zlin, Czech Republic. You can now watch the chat below.

GAMMA RAY's latest release, "Skeletons & Majesties", is a collection of songs the band gathered from previous albums represented in two completely different styles. The purpose of the disc is simply to have fun, and to give fans a heads-up on what is in store for the band in the coming months, as well as involve their fans in the upcoming actions.

The first two tracks are the "Skeletons", featuring brand new versions of some of GAMMA RAY's songs rarely (if ever) played live, including "Hold Your Ground" (from their "Heading For Tomorrow" album) and "Brothers" (from the "Insanity And Genius" album). The second section, "Majesties", is where the band display two more new versions of rarities, "Send Me A Sign" (originally on the "Powerplant" release) and "Rebellion In Dreamland" (originally on "Land Of The Free"),both performed in a new acoustic presentation. Additionally, GAMMA RAY have also included some bonus tracks, including the ultra-rare track "Wannabees" — previously only released on the "To The Metal!" seven-inch single, and available here on CD for the first time — as well as an extended version of "Brothers".

Hansen recently joined UNISONIC, the new band featuring former HELLOWEEN vocalist Michael Kiske alongside Dennis Ward (bass) and Kosta Zafiriou (drums) of Germany's PINK CREAM 69 and Swiss guitarist Mandy Meyer (who has previously played with ASIA, GOTTHARD and KROKUS).

UNISONIC will release its debut EP, "Ignition" in late January via earMUSIC/Edel. The effort will include the track "Unisonic" plus one demo song and a cover version of the HELLOWEEN classic "I Want Out", recorded live on October 15 at this year's edition of the Loud Park festival at Saitama Super Arena, a multi-purpose indoor arena located in Saitama City, Japan. A full-length album will follow in March.
