KAMELOT Keyboardist To Sit Out North American Tour; EPICA's COEN JANSSEN To Step in
August 11, 2013Keyboardist Oliver Palotai (pictured below) of American / German / Swedish symphonic metallers KAMELOT has released the following statement:
"This September, KAMELOT will bring the 'Silverthorn Tour 2013' to North America! It will be a big metal party, with our friends DELAIN and EKLIPSE.
"As many of you know, Simone [Simons, EPICA singer] and I are expecting our first child, who decided to make its entrance in the spotlight right when I wanted to tour with my band, so instead of making this part of the tour, I will be here welcoming our new addition to the KAMELOT family!
"The good news is: A good friend and fantastic musician will take my place behind the keys — Coen Janssen from EPICA. Since we toured already many times together and he knows the songs by heart, he's without doubt the best choice for the job. I wish him all the best and success; he will have a great time with my bandmates from KAMELOT and is a fantastic performer. I will be back on stage for the European tour in November, with new skills like fast diaper changing, baby rocking or lullaby singing. See you there!
"Thanks for your support!!"
KAMELOT's latest album, "Silverthorn", sold 5,400 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 79 on The Billboard 200 chart. The band's previous CD, "Poetry For The Poisoned", opened with around 6,100 units in September 2010 to enter the chart at No. 74.
"Silverthorn" was released on October 30, 2012 in North America, October 26, 2012 in Germany and October 29, 2012 in the rest of Europe via Steamhammer/SPV. The CD marks the band's first release with Tommy Karevik, the Swedish vocalist who previously fronted SEVENTH WONDER (a group that he is still a member of).
Tommy first appeared as one of the guest singers on KAMELOT's very successful 2011 Pandemonium World Tour.
KAMELOT supported Finnish/Dutch symphonic metallers NIGHTWISH on their North American tour last summer.
