KATAKLYSM: 'DEVILDRIVER Are Trying To Make Themselves Look Real By Getting On Metal Tours'

December 19, 2003

Maurizio Iacono, vocalist for the Canadian death metallers KATAKLYSM, has issued the following comment on the reports that they have lost one of the support slots on the upcoming OPETH tour to DEVILDRIVER, the new band fronted by ex-COAL CHAMBER singer Dez Fafara:

"Hey everyone... First I'd like to thank all the people that emailed us rooting for KATAKLYSM to be on the OPETH tour. I'm overwhelmed!

"But today is a sad day not only for KATAKLYSM, but for real metal in general... no disrespect intended towards DEVILDRIVER, 'coz I don't even know the guys personally except for the fact that there's an ex-COAL CHAMBER member... what I'm saying is shit happens, we lost the tour... so what, business is business... but to lose it to a band that comes from the Nu-metal era is what I don't get, that style is dead and now they are trying to make themselves look real by getting on real metal tours.

"If OPETH, KATAKLYSM and MOONSPELL would be on a Nu-metal tour we would all get tomatoes thrown at us, but we as real metalheads have to sit back and accept shit like this happening to our scene... anyways politics right?

"We will work something out for later next year and I hope to see all them REAL devil horns held high. Thanks to MOONSPELL for offering to share their bus with us and to the agency who booked this for fighting for us!!

"It's been a long week... glad it's over! See ya soon, Maurizio."
