KATAKLYSM: New Album Update
September 13, 2007Canadian death metallers KATAKLYSM are well on their towards completing the recording of their new album, "Prevail".
Commented frontman Maurizio Iacono: "[I] spent the last ten days in Quebec at J-F's [producer/guitarist Jean-Francois Dagenais] new studio (which is mint, by the way, feels right at home!). Got all my vocals down tight. We spent many hours listening to the tracks over and over and thinking of things we could have done differently or change on the patterns and it's all there the way it should be. I was very prepared for this album and very focused. I worked the hardest I ever have on an album. I'm happy with the results. I think people will be excited when this hits the streets. J-F is in the middle of recording his guitar tracks right now and then Stephane will hit the rumbling bass on it early next week. This album will hit you in every way possible, I promise!
"So now we are getting ready and looking forward to our European tour that starts in two weeks and also the CHIMAIRA tour. The package is diverse and interesting. We'll have a hard-hitting set list and might travel back a couple of records too. Come out and hang out and drink with us. For KATAKLYSM the best part of touring is meeting all of you and seeing you go crazy and be loud in the pit of course!"
KATAKLYSM has recruited producer Jason Suecof (CHIMAIRA, TRIVIUM, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER) to mix the album in early January. "Prevail" will also feature some guest appearances to be announced at a later date.
The album is scheduled for May 23, 2008 release via Nuclear Blast Records.
KATAKLYSM recently decided to "immortalize" the character that was featured on the cover of their most recent album, "In the Arms of Devastation", and have him re-appear as the main character — dubbed "The Heartbeast" — on their next offering, "Prevail".
Commented Maurizio Iacono: "We had so [much] killer feedback on the artwork but especially on the character that we decided to keep him as the band's fifth band member... kinda like IRON MAIDEN did with 'Eddie.' We have the perfect concept for the next album art... it will be bad-ass!"
