KATAKLYSM Singer Checks In With Album, Tour Update

December 13, 2003

Maurizio Iacono, vocalist for the Canadian death metallers KATAKLYSM, has issued the following update via the group's regular newsletter:

"So I'm now back in my new home in Chicago getting adjusted (fucking windy here man!) but I love it, great people! The album is finished, sent to Nuclear Blast Germany and the whole office went bananas, they loved it — always a good thing! So are we happy with it? Fuck yeah! Considering we did 180 shows + wrote and recorded this album all in one year, its nuts!... But bottom line — mission accomplished! The best way to describe 'Serenity In Fire' is put your head in a blender and see if it hurts (!)... No seriously, it's our most violent record since 'Temple of Knowledge', but with the hooks of 'Shadows & Dust'. J-F once again delivered the goods on the production and our new drummer Martin Maurais — what can I say, the boy's got 8 arms! We will put the videoclip for 'As I Slither' online early January 2004 to give you guys something to chew on 'till the release date of March 8th.

"On the touring front For 'Serenity in Fire' we have confirmed the No Mercy Festivals, which will be followed by 2 more weeks with CANNIBAL CORPSE and ABORTED. Finally we'll do 10 more headlining dates covering countries such as Belarus, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovenia and Poland. We have also confirmed, immediately following the Euro. tour, a South African tour that will go from May 6th to 9th. That should make us the first metal act out of Canada to visit that part of the world and we are honored to say the least! As for the States, we are working hard to get something going for maybe May or June... Ok enough talk - I wish everyone some great holidays and get hammered! Cheers!!"
