KATAKLYSM Wins JUNO Award In 'Heavy Metal Album Of The Year' Category

April 4, 2016

KATAKLYSM was honored in the "Heavy Metal Album Of The Year" category at this year's Juno Awards (the Canadian equivalent of the Grammy Awards),which was held on Sunday, April 3 at Calgary, Alberta's Scotiabank Saddledome.

"Heavy Metal Album Of The Year" nominees were as follows:

* CANCER BATS - "Searching For Zero"
* DIEMONDS - "Never Wanna Die"
* FUCK THE FACTS - "Desire Will Rot"
* KATAKLYSM - "Of Ghosts And Gods"
* KEN MODE - "Success"

"Of Ghosts And Gods" was released last July via Nuclear Blast. The cover artwork for the follow-up to "Waiting For The End To Come" was created by up-and-coming dark and macabre artist Art By Surtsey and can be seen below.

According to KATAKYSM, the "cover art echoes a sinister artwork depicting the reality of humanity's beautifully disturbing existence and its impending death through the mortal and the everlasting. The background shows an ancient Incantation written in Aramaic."

Guitarist Jean-François "JF" Dagenais tracked drums, guitars and bass for the album, while vocals were recorded by producer Mark Lewis (WHITECHAPEL, DEVILDRIVER, CANNIBAL CORPSE). The effort was mixed and mastered in the U.K. by British producer Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, TESTAMENT, EXODUS, AMON AMARTH).
