KAYO DOT Sign With ROBOTIC EMPIRE
March 31, 2005KAYO DOT, the Massachusetts-based musical project featuring former members of the now-defunct MAUDLIN OF THE WELL, have signed to Richmond, Virginia's Robotic Empire label for the band's sophomore album. The group will enter Zing Studios (UNEARTH, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE) in August to record the as-yet-untitled CD for a fall release.
"Almost impossible to justly put into words, KAYO DOT is both difficult to call a metal band and difficult to NOT call a metal band, blending a wide array of haunting atmospheric elements with ultimately unreal and massive climaxes," reads a press release announcing the signing. "The lengthy creations crafted by KAYO DOT flow fluidly between immense beauty and the harshest, heaviest monolithic sounds imaginable. Being an eight piece, including several guitars, trumpet and a small string section, it's a mighty endeavor that few musicians could pull off with such finesse, but KAYO DOT emerge triumphantly and their upcoming album is shaping to be nothing short of truly phenomenal."
KAYO DOT's debut album, "Choirs of the Eye", was released in October 2003 through John Zorn's Tzadik label. The CD features five tracks and clocks in at about 56 minutes. A full, high-quality 10-minute MP3 of "Marathon", the first track from the "Choirs of the Eye" album, can be heard at this location.
