KEITH CAPUTO's 'Bleed For Something Beautiful' Video Released

July 17, 2009

"Bleed For Something Beautiful", the new video from LIFE OF AGONY singer Keith Caputo, can be viewed below. The clip was directed by William Rot and was shot in Malibu and in Silverlake, California with Julie Becker, "the brilliant and infamous tattoo artist," according to Caputo.

Commented Rot: "I met Keith Caputo after seeing a performance of his last year in New York City, which was one of the most inspiring shows I've seen. There's an insane amount of energy exposed in Keith's live shows. So, to have the opportunity to translate that energy into a performance for a music video was an honor. This piece was done completely independently: Just me, my camera and the performers. Because of this intimate setting, we were able to capture moments in time that would otherwise not be possible.

"I'd rather not talk about this music video in generic terms like, 'It's about this or that,' because I want people to have their own affair with it. However, I think it's a piece that involves participation in the viewing process. Too much fluff is being thrown at our senses on a daily basis; so often so that we might be in a habit to glance over, skip ahead, pause and come back to a video later. I would hope that is not the case with this work. I would like it if you do whatever you can to immerse yourself in the experience. This is obviously a piece of art that is free for everyone. Keith and I created this gift for you. I hope it's well received."

Caputo added, "This video is so graceful, tasteful and sophisticated. It is stylish and is the best goddamn video I was a part of, and I have done at least 14 or 15 videos throughout my 'career.'

"Will, in my opinion, is inventive, genuine, unconventional, free spirited, eccentric and I feel that we are both pioneering with music and film. The video is avant-garde and cutting edge. No one in rock 'n' roll is making music videos like this/us. This was an amazing step for the both of us, a wonderful achievement. Will took this song to a visual place I never thought was possible."

"Bleed For Something Beautiful" comes off Caputo's latest solo album "A Fondness For Hometown Scars", which was released in Europe in April 2008 via Suburban Records. The CD was produced by Martyn Lenoble (JANE'S ADDICTION, DAVE GAHAN, PORNO FOR PYROS, THE CULT) and features the following band lineup:

Keith Caputo - Vocals
Jochem Van Rooijen - Drums
Marcel Signor - Guitars
Michiel Rietveld - Bass/Acoustic Guitar

Guest musicians include:

Zac Rae (PEDESTRIAN) - Keyboards
Gerry Leonard (DAVID BOWIE) - Guitars
Craig Ross (LENNY KRAVITZ, SHERYL CROW) - Electric Guitars/Acoustic
Flea (RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS) - Trumpet

"Fondness for Hometown Scars" was mixed by Vincent Jones (SARAH MCLACHLAN, DAVID GAHAN, MORRISSEY) and Martyn Lenoble and was mastered by George Marino at Sterling Sound in New York City.
