KISS Bats, Condoms On Sale At 24th Annual National Sports Collectors Convention

July 24, 2003

William H. Sokolic of Courier-Post is reporting that the "KISS bat", one of 2,500 items which bear the KISS name, will be for sale this weekend at the 24th Annual National Sports Collectors Convention at the Atlantic City Convention Center.

Simmons and his three bandmates will be on hand Saturday (July 26) in full makeup and regalia to push the items, which range from caskets to condoms.

Simmons, who attended a press preview Tuesday at Trump Plaza Hotel & Casino, credited his love of baseball for his decision to seek fame and fortune.

"I grew up in New York and the Yankees were like gods to me. They were regular people who rose to Mount Olympus. It opened my eyes and ears that getting up there is possible," Simmons said.

Show organizers hope the presence of KISS and other entertainment stars boosts attendance at the convention, on the East Coast for the first time since 1988.

Organizers hope to attract 50,000 people over four days. Read more.
