KISS: 'Dynasty' Platinum Award That Once Belonged To ACE FREHLEY Being Auctioned

March 20, 2007

A KISS "Dynasty" platinum album award once owned by original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley is being auctioned via eBay. According to a posting on the auction page, this piece of "Kisstory" — one of four awards given to the members of KISS (Frehley, Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons and Peter Criss) in 1981 — includes a letter of origin and authenticity.

The auction ends on March 24 at 9:52 p.m. PST.

Originally released in May 1979, "Dynasty" was released less than a year after the four KISS solo albums, which were commercial disappointments. The LP, and its subsequent tour, were billed as the "Return of Kiss." The band (as a unit) had not released a studio album since 1977 and had not toured since the spring of 1978.The album would restore the band to commercial prominence, reaching No. 9 on the U.S. Billboard album chart.
