KISS, METALLICA, CHEAP TRICK Memorabilia Featured In 'Rock Stars' Cars & Guitars 2' Exhibit
May 13, 2009According to MetroTimes.com, a number of guitars that (design-wise) belong to KISS and CHEAP TRICK's Rick Nielsen are featured in the "Rock Stars' Cars & Guitars 2" exhibit, which is coming later this month to Dearborn, Michigan's Henry Ford Museum. Gene Simmons' star bass and Paul Stanley's axe guitar are included, as well as Rick Nielsen's Chandler Electroslide, which uses a CHEAP TRICK record as a pickguard. Also shown is Ian Hunter's H-shaped double-neck guitar ("The Weapon").
But the cars are the main attraction. You'll spot ZZ TOP's Billy Gibbons' iconic 1933 Ford Coupe "Eliminator", Rick Nielsen's John Deere riding mower with a customized paint job, and METALLICA's James Hetfield's metallic purple '53 Buick Skylark (with a matching guitar, of course).
"Rock Stars' Cars & Guitars 2" runs May 16 through September 7 at the Henry Ford Museum, 20900 Oakwood Blvd., Dearborn; 313-982-6220. There's a preview party at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 14. Opening day — Saturday, May 16 — sees a full day of concerts.
