KK'S PRIEST Releases Music Video For New Version Of JUDAS PRIEST Classic 'Never Satisfied'
October 15, 2026KK'S PRIEST, which features former JUDAS PRIEST members K.K. Downing (guitar) and Tim "Ripper" Owens (vocals),has revisited a classic from the JUDAS PRIEST catalog, re-recording "Never Satisfied" with Owens. The new version of the song, originally featured on PRIEST's 1974 debut album "Rocka Rolla", arrives with an accompanying music video directed by John Psaras. Check it out below.
You can download the song for free for a limited time on Bandcamp.
Downing, the decision to revisit "Never Satisfied" represents an opportunity to look back across his remarkable career while giving the song a new life through the current KK'S PRIEST lineup.
"Yeah, it seemed like a good idea to, at this point in my career, in my life, span so many decades, just to turn the page back and look at how things might possibly present themselves many decades later," Downing explains. "So, songs like 'Never Satisfied' and other recordings that I enjoy connecting with again after so long."
Downing also points to the recent acquisition of the rights to PRIEST's "Rocka Rolla" and "Sad Wings Of Destiny" album by Reach Music as another factor behind the project. The albums are being remastered and reissued, with "Rocka Rolla" already released and "Sad Wings Of Destiny" scheduled for release in November.
"And obviously with a view to not just reinvigorating those songs by having KK'S PRIEST's current lineup record those songs," Downing says, "it's also, I'm glad to say, that Reach Music have now acquired the rights to those two albums, which has actually freed the whole thing up, and has brought about a willingness and a want to be able to bring the albums to the surface again."
The new "Never Satisfied" also offers an intriguing comparison between two of heavy metal's most distinctive vocalists. While Rob Halford performed the original version, Owens brings his own interpretation to the song decades later. Downing believes both singers are capable of putting their own stamp on the material.
"Two great singers and performers," Downing says. "I mean, you know, it's going to be tough. I guess the main thing is that Rob would be associated with the archive legacy, the original going back when. But obviously, Ripper is sort of capable of doing the same thing, but with a slightly different delivery and tonality of the voice."
Downing adds: "But other than that, I mean, both the vocalists can completely nail down any song, and it would be often tough to choose what the preference would be."
The release of "Never Satisfied" comes as KK'S PRIEST is currently on the road in North America with W.A.S.P. The tour pairs two veteran acts with deep roots in the 1980s metal scene, and Downing says the shows have delivered exactly the kind of high-energy experience fans might expect.
"I've done 21 shows. Got another 21 to do. So we're exactly at the halfway point," Downing says. "I mean, W.A.S.P., legendary early '80s band, and obviously we go back."
He describes the tour as "an explosion of energy" from start to finish, adding that audiences can expect KK'S PRIEST to deliver a set packed with classic songs spanning decades of Downing's career.
"So that's what they're going to get," he says. "But they're going to get a hell of a lot of classic songs that they've known that go back decades. And so it will hopefully drive fans to come along and sing along, which they are doing, and seemingly enjoying what we do tremendously."
With "Never Satisfied", KK'S PRIEST is therefore bringing together multiple eras of Downing's musical history: an early JUDAS PRIEST composition, a new interpretation featuring Owens, and a current lineup continuing to perform classic metal on stages across North America.
Downing and Owens previously released a different version of "Never Satisfied" in June 2025.
The new version of the track, which was written by K.K. and JUDAS PRIEST's original lead vocalist Al Atkins, features fresh drum tracks by Sean Elg, new rhythm guitars by Downing and A.J. Mills and a brand new mix, as well as new mastering.
"We just had fun in a spare bedroom, trying to create something different," Downing told Ultimate Classic Rock about "Never Satisfied"'s conception. "We wrote quite a lot of stuff and then we went on the road. In my memory, 'Never Satisfied' was always in the set. When Al left and Rob joined, then we were on the road for at least a couple of years. We had the song in the set [at that time] with Rob singing it as well."
KK'S PRIEST's sophomore album, "The Sinner Rides Again", came out in September 2023 via the Austrian label Napalm Records.
KK'S PRIEST made its live debut on July 6, 2023 at Downing's KK's Steel Mill in Wolverhampton, United Kingdom.
K.K. formed KK'S PRIEST after JUDAS PRIEST turned down his offer to rejoin the band for their 50th-anniversary tour. It followed a couple of celebrated stage appearances, first with former MANOWAR guitarist Ross The Boss in the summer of 2019, then with a one-off lineup that included former MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson and former PRIEST drummer Les Binks later that year.
KK'S PRIEST released its debut album, "Sermons Of The Sinner", in October 2021 via Explorer1 Music Group/EX1 Records.
Downing spent four months writing and recording "Sermons Of The Sinner" and, along with new ideas, he even resurrected a few archived riffs from the 1980s.
Downing was reunited with JUDAS PRIEST for a performance at the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony in November 2022 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
PRIEST received the Musical Excellence Award at the event, which honored Eminem, Dolly Parton, DURAN DURAN, Lionel Richie, Pat Benatar, EURYTHMICS and Carly Simon in the Performers category.
Owens joined PRIEST in 1996 and recorded two studio albums with the band — 1997's "Jugulator" and 2001's "Demolition" — before PRIEST reunited with Rob Halford in 2003.
