KORN Begin First North American Tour As Four-Piece

February 24, 2006

Launch Radio Networks reports: KORN begins the North American leg of its 2006 world tour tonight (Friday, February 24) in the band's hometown of Bakersfield, California. The trek, which also features MUDVAYNE and 10 YEARS, will finish up on April 4 in Toronto, Canada. KORN guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer told Launch that it's all about getting onstage. "This is what we live for, is to go out and tour and play live," he said. "I mean, that's — I'm an adrenaline junkie and I need to be in front of lots of screaming people (laughs)."

This will be KORN's first full tour with founding guitarist Brian "Head" Welch, who left the group one year ago to devote his life to Christianity.

Guitarist Rob Patterson will play Welch's parts on tour, but will not actually appear onstage.

KORN will have a street named after it today in Bakersfield. The ceremony is cheduled to be attended by the mayor, city councilmen, and other officials, with the group receiving a bronze plaque for a "lifetime of achievement."

KORN is supporting its seventh studio album, "See You On The Other Side", which has sold 702,000 copies since its December 6 release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The group recently shot a video for the set's second single, "Coming Undone".
