KORN Frontman Interviewed On U.K.'s ROCK RADIO
July 23, 2010Paul Anthony of Rock Radio recently conducted an interview with KORN frontman Jonathan Davis. You can now listen to the chat using the audio player below.
KORN's new album, "Korn III - Remember Who You Are", sold 63,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 2 on The Billboard 200 chart.
The band's last, untitled CD opened with 123,000 units back in August 2007 to land at No. 2. That number was slightly more than half of the 221,000 first-week tally achieved by its predecessor, "See You On The Other Side", which debuted at No. 3 back in December 2005.
"Korn III - Remember Who You Are" is the band's first effort for brand new label home, Roadrunner Records.
KORN is not only busy promoting its new album, but the members have also been outspoken about the Gulf oil spill while on tour this summer. Davis and the band are boycotting all BP products, and have encouraged other acts to follow suit, including GODSMACK, ROB ZOMBIE, LADY GAGA, RISE AGAINST, BACKSTREET BOYS, MEGADETH, CREED, FILTER and HELLYEAH.
Davis tells The Pulse of Radio why KORN decided to boycott the oil giant. "It wasn't nothing that was political in any way," he said. "For us, seeing the impact that it had on the environment down there — more than that, the people's lives. I mean, yeah, you can pay them some money but what about their livelihood for the rest of their lives? It's changed forever down there. So I was watching TV, watching this going on, and I just thought to myself, 'Hey, I'm not gonna buy no more BP products.' Told my manager that, and then I said, 'Hey, let's do a boycott and see if other bands would want to get involved."
KORN's Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival pulls into Camden, New Jersey today (Friday, July 23).
