KORN Sign With VIRGIN, Select First Single Off New Album
September 9, 2005According to FMQB, KORN have selected "Twisted Transistor" as the first single off their upcoming album, due on November 22 via Virgin Records. The single is scheduled to go for radio adds on October 3.
KORN's recently inked deal with Virgin is believed to be for two albums and a one-third interest in the band's publishing, merchandising and ticket sales as part of a new contractual model, a la Robbie Williams. The band's as-yet-untitled new effort was mixed by Terry Date, who has previously worked with such artists as DEFTONES, PANTERA and SOULFLY, among others. Matrix (AVRIL LAVIGNE, THE MOONEY SUZUKI) and Atticus Ross (BAD RELIGION, PINK) were responsible for the production duties on the follow-up to 2003's "Take a Look in the Mirror", with no songs from the band's sessions with Dallas Austin slated to appear on the effort. Other songtitles expected to appear on the CD include "Liar", "Politix", "Last Legal Drug", "Le Petit Mort", "It's Me Again", "Coming Undone", "I've Seen It All" and "Souvenir of Sadness".
KORN's last release, "Greatest Hits, Vol. 1" (Immortal/Epic),featuring highlights from the first 10 years of the band's recording career, has sold 967,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
