KREATOR Mainman PETROZZA, Producer ANDY SNEAP Talk About 'Enemy Of God'

November 19, 2004

KREATOR mainman Mille Petrozza and producer Andy Sneap (MACHINE HEAD, SKINLAB, NEVERMORE) recently spoke to the U.K.'s Terrorizer magazine about the band's upcoming album, "Enemy of God".

Said Mille: "It took us some time to realise what the band's strong point is. We're experimenting within our own universe instead of taking inspiration from other sources. It's more realistic than an album like 'Renewal' [1992]. It's not a September 11th theme, but it is based around this Jihad thing. Bush is saying that al Qaeda is the enemy of god and they say the same. In the '80s we sang about the environment, 'Toxic Trace' or whatever, but that's old news. I write what I see and that's what comes out. I don't think 'how can I make this record more evil' or whatever. I try to be realistic without being political."

Producer Andy Sneap added, "When you've done eight or nine albums maybe you feel the need to go somewhere else with your music but they always come back to this because it's where the heart is. If it's a MACHINE HEAD album, you're looking at four guitars because it's more their sound. With this, it's more regular tuning and you wanna hear the attack in the pick. With the old SLAYER albums, you can hear one guitar on one side and one on the other. To me that's part of the whole thrash sound."

As previously reported, "Enemy of God" is scheduled for release in Europe and South America on January 10 and North America on January 11 via SPV Records. A limited-edition version of the CD will come with a bonus DVD containing a "making of" documentary and video clips.

The follow-up to 2001's "Violent Revolution" was recorded and mixed at Backstage Studios in Derbyshire, England with Sneap, and was previously described by Petrozza as "pure brutal thrash! Tons of fast shit, sick solos, aggro riffing... I am really psyched about the new shit. Can't wait to hear what [the fans] think about it..." ARCH ENEMY guitarist Michael Amott makes a guest appearance on lead guitar on the track "Murder Fantasies". Listen to the track "Impossible Brutality" in Real Media format at this location.

KREATOR will be teaming up with Sweden's DARK TRANQUILLITY for the "Enemy of God Tour 2005" beginning in February 2005. Also appearing on the bill will be Hungarian hardcore/thrash metallers EKTOMORF and Danish thrashers HATESPHERE. A list of currently confirmed tour dates can be found at this location.
