LAMB OF GOD Guitarist Says 'Blood, Sweat And Tears' Went Into Making Of New Album
September 20, 2006Jeffrey Easton of The Metal Exiles recently conducted an interview with LAMB OF GOD guitarist Willie Adler. A few excerpts from the chat follow:
The Metal Exiles: You were just named one of the best guitarists in metal right now by Guitar World. What do you think about that?
Willie: It is insane as it is a magazine that I have been reading since I was a kid so to score the cover is flattering and an honor.
The Metal Exiles: How did you get that?
Willie: We have done a lot work with them and the guy that was putting it together felt that now was the time to do it.
The Metal Exiles: Do you feel that this was due to the new CD or the entire catalog?
Willie: Probably the entire catalog combined. Mark and I have written a column for them for sometime now so we have a great relationship with them and they felt it was time.
The Metal Exiles: "Ashes Of The Wake" was a great CD but this one buries it, what went into writing it?
Willie: Blood, sweat and tears. A lot of things were going on in our lives and it shows on the record. We stayed away from the political stuff as you can tell and concentrated on our personal lives.
The Metal Exiles: When you go back and listen to [the new album], what do you think?
Willie: I am extremely proud of it, I cannot think of us making a better record right now. It is so varied and different that it collectively makes for a classic record, there is not a bad song on it.
The Metal Exiles: Do you think this will go gold?
Willie: I think it will, it debuted at 63,000 and the second week it did 22,000.
