Legendary Photographer NEIL ZLOZOWER Talks About Working With VAN HALEN, MÖTLEY CRÜE

September 29, 2008

SatomiMusicumentary has posted a 10-minute video clip (see below) shot earlier this month at the Hollywood, California studio of legendary music photographer Neil Zlozower. Neil talks about his second book "Fuck You: Rock and Roll Portraits", offers juicy backstage stories and remembers some of his favorite photo sessions.

For more than 30 years, Neil Zlozower has shot a who's-who of rock and metal titans. When the session demands, Neil has been known to yell, "Give me some fucking attitude!" The go-to gesture in the next photo frame is nearly always the rocker giving Neil the finger.

"Fuck You: Rock and Roll Portraits" assembles a veritable rock and roll hall of fame of musicians flipping the bird — a playful parade of obscenity and a celebration of pure rock attitude. Here and telling the world to fuck off are VAN HALEN, AEROSMITH, KISS, RATT, MÖTLEY CRÜE, OZZY OSBOURNE, KORN, BON JOVI, METALLICA, MEGADETH, POISON, BLACK CROWES, WARRANT, GUNS N' ROSES, and many more, sharing the love with each flying finger.

And guess which band is featured the most? That's right... VAN HALEN... with 14 full pages of never-before-published photos from the '70's and '80's.

Neil Zlozower is the author of "Van Halen: A Visual History, 1978-1984" and has worked with VAN HALEN, THE ROLLING STONES, TED NUGENT, AC/DC, MOTÖRHEAD, LED ZEPPELIN, and many others over a long and storied career. He lives in Los Angeles, California.
