Legendary Recording Studio MORRISOUND Burglarized

April 13, 2011

Legendary Tampa, Florida-area recording studio Morrisound Recording in Temple Terrace — which has been used by countless metal bands over the years, including SEPULTURA, DEATH, ICED EARTH, DEICIDE, OBITUARY, CANNIBAL CORPSE and MALEVOLENT CREATION — fell victim to a burglary over the weekend in which the crooks made off with equipment and instruments worth thousands of dollars. They also took two platinum records (the soundtrack to the movie "The Crow" and TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA's "Christmas Eve") and a gold record (ICED EARTH's "Live in Athens") awarded to the company.

"It was a real kick in the gut to see everything we've built over 30 years here gone in a flash," studio owner Tom Morris told Bay News 9.

Temple Terrace police said the burglars cut electrical power and phone lines, disabled the security system and forced their way in.

Officers say the suspects probably used a large truck or moving van to haul the equipment away.

Anyone with information about the burglary is being asked to call Temple Terrace Police at (813) 989-7110.

Morrisound has been in business since 1981 and has recorded virtually every style of music from quiet string ensembles to heavy rock, with everything in between, including jazz, country, gospel, bluegrass, folk, rap, hip-hop, punk, funk, R&B, and death metal, just to name a few.
