LEZ ZEPPELIN To Perform Mass Wedding In New York City

August 9, 2011

On Friday, August 26, New York City-based all-female powerhouse LEZ ZEPPELIN will perform an actual marriage ceremony conducted by the group's drummer, Leesa Harrington-Squyres, an ordained minister, at New York City's Irving Plaza in honor of the recent law passed in New York State legalizing gay marriage. Of course, all lovebirds, all persuasions are welcome! The ceremony will precede a full-on electric performance by the band and will serve as the first event of its kind in rock history.

LEZ ZEPPELIN has been stirring up stages worldwide with their master musicianship, electrifying live shows and gender-bending take on the music of LED ZEPPELIN. In a recent full-length feature (July 22, 2011),the New York Times reiterated Chuck Klosterman's suggestion in SPIN that LEZ ZEPPELIN might be the "most powerful all-female band in rock history," and added that the group "has somehow harnessed the energy, a kind of magical looseness, that helped catapult LED ZEPPELIN into the rock 'n' roll canon."

The band's recently released sophomore album, "Lez Zeppelin I", an incredible recreation of LED ZEPPELIN's 1969 debut, recorded on the very same vintage equipment the band originally used, has received rave reviews worldwide. The group's authentic and skillful renditions of the complex layers of LED ZEPPELIN's music displays a dedication that has never before been demonstrated by any other band of its kind.

In deciding to offer a marriage ceremony as part of the group's big end-of-summer concert at Irving Plaza, Steph Paynes, the band's leader and guitarist said, "In light of the historic moment here in our very own New York, and as we are in the unique position of actually being able to marry people, we thought it would be a beautiful and magical way to say 'thank you' to our fans."

The band invites couples of all preferences to take part in a musical ceremony that will feature the group in a more intimate setting and be held before doors are open to the general public. After the service, couples and their guests will enjoy VIP access to special areas of the club for the concert to follow.
