LIMP BIZKIT's DURST: How We Got Involved With SUMMER SANITARIUM 2003

February 8, 2003

LIMP BIZKIT frontman Fred Durst recently talked to Launch about how the band was approached for Summer Sanitarium Tour 2003, the upcoming monster trek featuring BIZKIT, METALLICA, LINKIN PARK, DEFTONES and MUDVAYNE.

"[METALLICA drummer] Lars [Ulrich] called me at home and asked me if I wanted to go on tour with them and I was like, 'Whoa that's wild,'" Durst said. "I didn't really take it to heart. I thought that's pretty cool that he called and asked, because me and him have been through some stuff before, and we've been cool for a long time. We talked about our thing with Napster a long time ago. But, I was just like, 'Wow man, whoa,' It's an honor that they ask me to play, but it's so different. We're so different."

Tickets for Summer Sanitarium 2003 go on sale February 22. Exact dates and venues will be announced shortly. LIMP BIZKIT are finishing up work on their upcoming Flip/Interscope album "Lessismore", due in May.
