LINKIN PARK, MEGADETH Projected First-Week Sales Revealed
May 16, 2007According to Hits Daily Double, MEGADETH is on track to sell around 60,000 copies of its latest CD, "United Abominations", in the United States in its first week of release to land in the Top 10 (possibly Top 5) of the Billboard chart. This is more than the 46,000 first-week tally registered by its predecessor, "The System Has Failed" (which debuted at No. 18 on The Billboard 200 chart),and is in line with the 61,000 opening number of 2001's "The World Needs A Hero" (No. 16).
Meanwhile, LINKIN PARK's "Minutes to Midnight" is headed for an impressive debut of 550,000, maybe even 600,000, which would be by far the biggest first week of the year. Blue Note chanteuse NORAH JONES' "Not Too Late" was the previous topper, with 418,000 back in February.
