March 6, 2007

According to a posting by LINKIN PARK MC Mike Shinoda on the MySpace page of his FORT MINOR project, the new LINKIN PARK album is entitled "Minutes to Midnight" and is scheduled for release on May 15. (NOTE: The posting, which was originally made early this morning [Tuesday, March 6] has since been removed from the page.)

LINKIN PARK's follow up 2003's multi-platinum "Meteora" was produced by Rick Rubin, whom Mike Shinoda called "a legend."

With regards to the musical direction of the new CD, Rubin recently MTV.com, "They really are reinventing themselves. It doesn't sound like rap-rock. There's very strong songwriting. I've heard guys in the band say that it transcends everything they've done before, like it puts them in a whole different light in their minds, and they really like that. It's very melodic. It's a progressive record."

(Thanks: Bud)
