LINKIN PARK Recordings Enter Midweek U.K. Charts Following CHESTER BENNINGTON's Death
July 25, 2017According to Billboard.com, nine of LINKIN PARK's recordings have entered the U.K.'s midweek charts in the wake of frontman Chester Bennington's tragic death.
The band's 2001 debut, "Hybrid Theory", is on target to re-enter the chart at No. 3, and their most recent album, "One More Light", has shot back up to No. 5. 2003's "Meteora" is at No. 7 at the halfway stage of the chart cycle.
On the midweek singles survey, LINKIN PARK's 2001 track "In The End" re-enters at No. 9, while "Numb" comes in at No. 13; "Numb/Encore", a 2004 mashup of Jay-Z's "Encore" and LINKIN PARK's "Numb", is at No. 29; and "What I've Done" is at No. 32.
Bennington was found dead in his home in Palos Verdes by one of his employees shortly before 9:00 a.m. last Thursday. A Los Angeles County coroner confirmed that the cause of death was "suicide by hanging."
A half-full bottle of alcohol was found in the room, but it was reportedly not near the body.
LINKIN PARK canceled plans for a North American tour and the band's future at the moment remains unclear, while fans and musicians worldwide reacted to the death of the singer.
Bennington had been candid about mental health battles in numerous interviews over the years, saying he grappled with depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts and substance abuse.
LINKIN PARK released its seventh studio album, "One More Light", in May. It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart.
