LINKIN PARK Selects Battle Of The Bands Winner For 'Revolution'

July 27, 2007

Launch Radio Networks reports: LINKIN PARK has announced that the band ART OF CHAOS will open the second stage at the Los Angeles-area stop on the Projekt Revolution tour, slated for Saturday (July 28) at the Hyundai Pavilion in San Bernardino. ART OF CHAOS emerged from a field of 135 acts in a "battle of the bands" contest held in conjunction with the tour in Los Angeles, with five finalists facing off in a special show in Hollywood. LINKIN PARK singer Chester Bennington explained why he thought the contest was a great idea. "I've been playing in bands for over 16 years and, like, if there was ever an opportunity to win a chance to play, you know, Lollapalooza, like, I would have been in it," he said. "Anything to help encourage, you know, the music scene in any one particular town is like, I'm all for it. And, you know, you never know. Like, one of these bands can be, you know, an amazing act that just shreds and, like, really is captivating and, like, deserves to be there."

The Projekt Revolution tour kicked off on Wednesday (July 25) in Auburn, Washington.

This year's edition features the "Revolution Village" in addition to two stages of music. Highlights of the village are a free interactive baseball experience that includes batting cages, pitching cages and video game kiosks, free Monster drink giveaways, online photo booths, skate and BMX bike demonstrations and, in selected cities, Halo parties sponsored by XBox.

The musical lineup features MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE, TAKING BACK SUNDAY, H.I.M., PLACEBO, SAOSIN and others.

Projekt Revolution is an environmentally conscious "green" event, with one dollar from each ticket being donated to American Forests for their Global ReLeaf program to plant trees to help reduce global temperatures.

The tour's next stop is Friday (July 27) in Marysville, California.
