LINKIN PARK, VOLBEAT Performances At ROCKLAHOMA Canceled Due To Inclement Weather
May 24, 2015Due to the continued inclement weather in Pryor, Oklahoma, the organizers of this weekend's Rocklahoma festival have canceled the rest of the performances scheduled for Saturday night (May 23),including those by LINKIN PARK and VOLBEAT. The organizers say in a statement: "We want all our patrons to stay safe, so if you are on-site camping, we encourage you to stay at your campground. We will continue to monitor the weather and will have more information regarding tomorrow's performances in the morning."
Tornadic storms with heavy rainfall pushing through eastern Oklahoma on Saturday evening have caused widespread flash flooding in the area.
Mayes County Emergency Management director Johnny Janzen told PryorDailyTimes.com: "In a tornado situation, they typically tell you not to get in your vehicle. However, there are no substantial structures at Rocklahoma that will house everyone. Metal poles make tents an unsafe option in the presence of lightning. So, really, your vehicle may be the safest option."
There are an estimated 30,000 people attending the festivities on each day of the three-day event.
This year's Rocklahoma was scheduled to feature about 80 current and classic rock acts, including TESLA, GODSMACK, SLAYER, BREAKING BENJAMIN, PAPA ROACH, HALESTORM, QUEENSRŸCHE and ANTHRAX.
