LINKIN PARK Wins AMERICAN MUSIC AWARD, Simultaneously Makes History In China
November 19, 2007Multi-platinum rock act LINKIN PARK spent the weekend solidifying its position as one of the biggest rock bands in the world. As U.S. fans nominated the group for an American Music Award in the "Alternative Rock Music Category", the band was making history overseas as the first international rock group to perform at a stadium in China.
Touring in support of platinum-plus-selling new album "Minutes To Midnight", LINKIN PARK played to a sold-out crowd at the prestigious Shanghai Hongkou Stadium Sunday night (November 18),wowing fans with a set list that showcased past and present hits.
Shanghai was the band's sole stop in Mainland China and follows a string of top-selling European dates and a sold-out U.S. tour.
Co-produced by the legendary Rick Rubin (U2, TOM PETTY, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS) and LINKIN PARK frontman Mike Shinoda. "Minutes To Midnight" (Machine Shop Recordings/Warner Bros. Records) is the third studio release from LINKIN PARK, following "Hybrid Theory" (2000) and "Meteora" (2003). The album debuted at #1 on Billboard's Top 200 and sold 623,996 copies in its first week alone. Four weeks after its release, it was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America for sales exceeding 1 million copies. The album has shipped over 4.2 million worldwide, reaching #1 in 32 countries, and is certified platinum in 19 countries. It's one of the highest-debuting albums of 2007.
New single and video "Shadow Of The Day" follows previous top ten "Minutes To Midnight" singles "What I've Done" (which hit #1 on the Modern Rock chart) and "Bleed It Out" (#2 on Modern Rock chart).
