Listen To DAVID LEE ROTH's Cover Of GERRY RAFFERTY's 'Baker Street'
August 12, 2016David Lee Roth's version of the '70s hit "Baker Street" can be heard in the latest installment of his online series "The Roth Show". Check it out below.
"Baker Street" was originally recorded by Scottish singer-songwriter Gerry Rafferty. Released as a single in 1978, it was written by Gerry around his experiences as a struggling busker in the London Underground.
In a 2013 interview, the VAN HALEN frontman explained that "The Roth Show" started off as an experiment. "You can prop something up with your famous name for a day or two," he said. "But does it really hold water? Let's see if a new idea really has a chance. Inside a matter of weeks, it really caught fire."
The final show of VAN HALEN's U.S. tour took place on October 4, 2015 at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, California.
The trek was VAN HALEN's first since an aborted North American run three years earlier in support of its then-new studio album, "A Different Kind Of Truth".
Released in 2015 was "Tokyo Dome In Concert", VAN HALEN's first-ever live collection featuring Roth, despite numerous pro-shot concerts from the band's original heyday being heavily booted for years.
