LORDI Mainman Opens 'Theme Restaurant' In Finland

December 15, 2006

According to ESCToday.com, LORDI mainman Mr. Lordi will open a theme restaurant, dubbed Rocktaurant, today (Dec. 15) in Rovaniemi, Finland. The LORDI bandmembers will attend the event and promise a huge party with pyros and fireworks. No less than 1,000 people are expected to join in the fun, including guest of honor Santa Claus, Mr. Lordi's real-life neighbor. A part of Rovaniemi center will be closed from traffic 7:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. tonight to accomodate the large crowds.

The horror/rock themed restaurant has two floors — one for the whole family, and the other for kids accompanied by adults. The total number of seats is 150. It's been divided in various spaces with various themes, but the interior's details and the menu has been kept secret until tonight. The restaurant was designed by Tomppa Kekäläinen and Teemu Koivistoinen, who are responsible for LORDI's stage designs, and is owned by Mr. Lordi (real name: Tomi Putaansuu) and Arto Koivuharju. The music of choice inside the restaurant is '80s hard rock and melodic heavy metal.

If the concept proves successful there will be other Rocktaurants in Finland. In addition, there is talk about a possible restaurant opening in the United Kingdom.
