LORDI: North American Tour Dates Announced

March 2, 2007

Finland's monster rock 'n' roll extravaganza and winner of the 2006 Eurovision Song ContestLORDI has announced its first ever North American tour dates in support of the band's critically acclaimed album, "The Arockalypse". "The Arockalypse" will see a March 20 North American release via The End Records.

LORDI's "monster invasion" will launch on April 20 in Anaheim, California at House of Blues and wrap with a two-night stint at the Bamboozle music festival in East Rutherford, New Jersey on May 5 and 6.

On the topic of touring North America for the first time, frontman Mr. Lordi says, "I'm really anxious to see how the audiences are gonna react to us. From our point of view touring the States is like 'coming home.' I know it sounds weird for a Finnish band to say that but we are often described as the 'most American band' in Finland. You see all of our influences — mostly musically and visually, come from the States, so we'e keeping our fingers crossed."

Since winning Eurovision (the song contest that previously was a springboard for mainstream artists such as ABBA and CELINE DION) by its highest score ever, LORDI's popularity has grown to gargantuan heights, with the band conquering numerous European charts and a six-week sold out tour of Europe. The band's latest album, "The Arockalypse" has been certified triple platinum in Finland and is now also among the Top 60 best-selling Finnish albums ever. In addition to gracing the cover of dozens of Finnish publications, news features on LORDI's groundbreaking Eurovision win appeared outside of Finland in media outlets such as The New York Times, The Guardian and Spin.
