LORDI Tour Bus 'Hijacked' In Columbus; Video Available

August 9, 2007

The bus carrying LORDI's crew on the current Ozzfest tour was reported stolen early yesterday (Wednesday, August 8) after it went missing outside a hotel in downtown Columbus, Ohio. According to the local TV station WSYX-TV, the band's tour manager came out of the hotel yesterday morning to find that the bus — with the crew members still on board — was gone but the trailer that held the group's equipment was still there. The tour manager immediately called the police to say the bus had been stolen or hijacked. The police managed to track that bus down to a freight location elsewhere in town. Apparently there was some type of argument between the driver and the busing company — not the band. Per protocol, the driver was supposed to take the bus to a bonded location because, for some reason, he's alleging he wasn't getting paid. The cops managed to get in touch with the crew members, and they got everything straightened out. A short time later a new bus driver was brought in and the tour continued as scheduled.

A WSYX-TV video report on the incident is available for viewing at this location (select "Ozzfest Bus Taken" from video list on the right).

LORDI will take part in an in-store signing session for their new album, "The Arockalypse", on Wednesday, August 15 at 7:00 p.m. at Vintage Vinyl in Fords, New Jersey.

LORDI is currently taking part in the Ozzfest 2007 tour alongside headliners OZZY OSBOURNE, LAMB OF GOD and STATIC-X.

The band released its album "The Arockalypse" in North America on March 20, 2007 via The End Records.

(Thanks: Jim)
