LOSTPROPHETS Vocalist Charged With Child Sex Offenses
December 19, 2012According to BBC News, singer Ian Watkins of the Welsh rock band LOSTPROPHETS has been accused of sexual offenses against children. He was reportedly refused bail and will remain in custody until December 31. Along with him, two women aged 20 and 24 have been remanded in custody on similar charges.
The 35-year-old musician is charged with conspiracy to engage in sexual activity with a one-year-old girl and possession/distribution of indecent images of children.
Senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Peter Doyle said: "Specially trained staff are available to speak to anyone with concerns or information regarding this investigation and a dedicated telephone number has been set up.
"I want to encourage anyone who has any concerns or information which they think may be relevant to contact us.
"Safeguarding children involved in such cases is always a high priority and as such measures have already been taken."
LOSTPROPHETS has sold more than three million albums worldwide and topped the U.K. chart with 2006's "Liberation Transmission".
The band's most recent CD, "Weapons", came out in April.
