MÖTLEY CRÜE Singer VINCE NEIL: 'We're Bigger Now' Than We Were In The '80s
July 21, 2007Erica Blake of ToledoBlade.com recently conducted an interview with MÖTLEY CRÜE frontman Vince Neil.
Neil is currently touring with his solo band, now consisting of SLAUGHTER members Jeff Blando and Dana Strum, as well as drummer "Zoltan." Critics say it is among the best lineups the heavy metal singer has ever been aligned with.
"There'll be old MÖTLEY songs, some cover tunes, some new stuff. It's me and my buddies going down and having a good time."
There'll be no pyrotechnics at the show and little of the glitz and glam that MÖTLEY CRÜE loves to deliver. There may even be a few tunes from the solo albums that Neil released: "Exposed" in 1993 and "Carved in Stone" in 1995. He's not promising anything else. Because the way Neil rolls is simply to just "go out and have a good time."
"It's all about the music," he said.
And don't suggest to him that the band's heyday was in the '80s, when heavy metal and glam rock ruled the airwaves. Because although the CRÜE got started in 1981, they've been selling out shows ever since, he said.
"We're bigger now than then," he said with an edge in his voice. "The fans are exactly the same as back then, but now we have a larger age difference.
"Now we see a new generation of rock 'n roll fans."
