MACHINE HEAD Forced To Cut Clermont-Ferrand, France Concert Short

February 16, 2016

San Francisco Bay Area metallers MACHINE HEAD were forced to end their show Monday night (February 15) at La Cooperative De Mai in Clermont-Ferrand, France after only five songs. The band explained in a statement: "Clermont Ferrand, as you know, the chest flu and hacking cough that Robb [Flynn, MACHINE HEAD frontman] had stopped any sound from coming out of his throat five songs into our set. We are very sorry that we were unable to finish tonight's performance."

They added: "The doctor that visited Robb after the show instructed him not to sing for four days or his voice would not return for the tour. Unfortunately, what that means is Wednesday's show in Luxembourg is on a 'wait and see' basis. We will keep you posted as soon as we know more information."

Flynn released a video message apologizing for Monday night's abbreviated performance. He said: "Our friends in Clermont Ferrand, I have been battling a chest infection, or a chest flu, for a few days now. I can't stop coughing, and I have, basically, blown my voice out on stage. It started happening yesterday, but it really... There's nothing coming out of my throat right now. I am so, so, so sorry that we had to stop, but I hope you understand."

MACHINE HEAD's latest album, "Bloodstone & Diamonds", sold around 18,200 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 21 on The Billboard 200 chart. Released on November 10, 2014 via Nuclear Blast Entertainment, the CD was produced by Robb Flynn and Juan Urteaga, and like the last seven of eight MACHINE HEAD albums, was masterfully mixed by Colin Richardson. Additional tracking, editing, and mixing was done with Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, EXODUS, TESTAMENT, ARCH ENEMY) and Steve Lagudi.
