January 18, 2011Guitarist/vocalist Robb Flynn of San Francisco Bay Area metallers MACHINE HEAD recently signed a multi-year deal with Gibson/Epiphone that saw Epiphone launching an exclusive Robb Flynn signature series, baritone-scale Flying-V guitar at this past weekend's NAMM international music industry trade show in Anaheim, California. A couple of video clips offering a closer look at the guitar can be viewed below.
MACHINE HEAD last year begun writing and demoing material for the band's new studio album, which the group hopes to officially start recording by April. At least two songs have been fleshed out in demo form, with several others in the works.
MACHINE HEAD's long-awaited follow-up to 2007's "The Blackening" is tentatively due late 2011 via Roadrunner Records.
"The Blackening" was recorded at Sharkbite Studios in Oakland, California with MACHINE HEAD frontman Robb Flynn returning to the producer's chair, and Mark Keaton once again handling engineering duties. Longtime MACHINE HEAD collaborator Colin Richardson (CANNIBAL CORPSE, TRIVIUM, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE) mixed the record in London.
