MADBALL, ZAO, REMEMBERING NEVER, SCARLET, THE BANNER To Team Up For U.S. Tour

January 31, 2006

2006 marks the ten year anniversary of Ferret Music. In celebration of this decade of hardcore hits, Ferret has announced a super-tour — dubbed "Under the Gun" — featuring five of their heavy hitters: MADBALL, ZAO, REMEMBERING NEVER, SCARLET and THE BANNER. MADBALL, ZAO and REMEMBERING NEVER will be rotating on the headlining slot and there will be different opening acts on the shows.

Speaking on the rise of Ferret from a one-man project, releasing vinyl from a home bedroom, to becoming a full-scale operation, label president Carl Severson said, "The growth of the label came as a big surprise. It was just for fun, originally, and there were no expectations. It was never going to be a job, I just wanted to help out a friend's band and release a seven-inch."

Coming from the hardcore/punk DIY scene, Severson still runs the label like he is helping out friends but helping them on a much larger scale. "The goals for the company have changed over the years, being that we are now full-scale with multiple bands that tour the world, but one constant is the focus on the bands, and emphasis on enabling their growth," he said.

Ferret has been the starting point for newer bands like SCARLET, whose drummer, Andreas Magnusson, says of the label, "Before I was on the label, I was familiar with them from their early stages. They put out that TORN APART record, which is still one of my favorite albums of all time. It doesn't seem like a business relationship to us, we feel part of the Ferret family. We've partied with Carl and the Ferret gang a million times, which you don't hear other labels doing too much."

MADBALL, on the other hand, came to Ferret with a legendary status and catalogue of successful albums on a few larger labels. Guitar player Mitts says, "Being on Ferret, it's the first time I've been on a label and am completely happy. They have backed up everything they have said with action."
