MAN-RAZE: DEF LEPPARD Guitarist's Side Project Schedules Live Debut
September 11, 2005MAN-RAZE, the new band featuring DEF LEPPARD guitarist Phil Collen, will make their live debut on September 27 at the Spitz in London. Tickets for the show, which is being billed as a launch party for the band's first single, are available at The Spitz and We Got Tickets.
As previously reported, MAN-RAZE will release their debut maxi-single, "Skin Crawl", on October 24 via Surrealist Records. The single will be available for purchase through all good retail outlets, including online sites. Surrealist Records is a new independent label distributed in the U.K. through Shellshock/Pinnacle. A full-length album is set to be released in early 2006.
In addition to Collen, MAN-RAZE — which formed last summer after Collen returned to London from Southern California to care for his sick father — features SEX PISTOLS drummer Paul Cook and bassist Simon Laffy, a former bandmate of Collen's from the early Eighties glam outfit GIRL.
With regards to the band's sound, Collen — who also handles lead vocals — told Rolling Stone magazine, "It's a mix. We go from really hard rock, with obviously big guitars, to dub. I was always into the alternative stuff, a very big fan of THE POLICE. And this is edgy — a lot more aggressive than DEF LEPPARD."
