MANITOU Begins Recording New Album

March 3, 2007

Finnish traditional heavy metal band MANITOU, which features in its ranks members of OMNIUM GATHERUM, MALPRACTICE and KAIHORO, has entered SouthEastSounds Studio in Karhula, Finland with producer Teemu Aalto (OMNIUM GATHERUM, SINAMORE) to begin recording its third album. According to a press release, the new material will appeal to fans of "IRON MAIDEN, QUEENSRŸCHE, ANNIHILATOR, DIO, TAROT, WHITESNAKE... Traditional heavy metal, that is!" Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "No Signs of the Wisdom", "In This Indolence", "Some of the Sins Revealed", "The August Sky", "Incoherent World", "Dread of the Freaks", "The Loon" and "Harbinger". The mixing sessions will take place at Studio Sound Supreme in Hämeenlinna with Janne Saksa (MOKOMA, ROTTEN SOUND, PAIN CONFESSOR, AMORAL). A studio diary from the recording sessions (in Finnish) is available on the MANITOUweb site.

MANITOU released its second full-length album, "Deadlock", in March 2006 through Firebox. The group's video for the track "Fools in Control" has been posted online at their official web site (.MPG file, 29 MB). The "Fools in Control" single, which entered the Finnish single chart in February 2006 at position No. 2, also features a cover of MICHAEL JACKSON's "Beat It".

MANITOU parted ways with Firebox Records in December 2006. A new label home for the band has not yet been announced.
