MARILYN MANSON: ASIA ARGENTO's 'The Heart Is Deceitful' Film To Receive Fall/Winter Release

May 18, 2005

According to a post at indieWIRE, Palm Pictures has has acquired North American and Caribbean rights to Asia Argento's film "The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things", features an appearance by a make-up-free Marilyn Manson.

Argento's film, which played in Cannes last year, was written by JT Leroy, based on Leroy's autobiographical book of the same name. Palm is planning a fall/winter release in theaters. Argento stars in the movie and it was produced by Chris Hanley and Roberta Hanley of Muse Productions and Lilly Bright of Curiously Bright Entertainment. The cast includes Manson, Jimmy Bennett, Peter Fonda, Jeremy Renner, Michael Pitt, Kip Pardue and Winona Ryder.

In an interview with the Edmonton Sun conducted last fall, Manson spoke about his work on the film.

"It's an ensemble cast," said Manson. "So I guess everybody had sort of a small part. Mine's kind of the worst one at the end, where I play a confused, drunken white-trash guy who mistakes his girlfriend's son for her because he's sexually confused and dresses up in her Victoria's Secret mail-order underwear, and it's a really disturbing scene."

Manson liked working so much with Argento ? who is best known in the mainstream for her starring role in the 2002 Vin Diesel film "XXX" ? that she directed the video for the bonus song "(s)Aint" on the limited edition DVD version of his greatest hits album, "Lest We Forget", released last fall.
