MARILYN MANSON Says He Was Diagnosed With 'Swine Flu'

September 23, 2009

Marilyn Manson has revealed his MySpace blog that he has contracted the H1N1 virus (commonly known as swine flu).

"So I have officially been diagnosed, by a real doctor, with THE SWINE FLU," wrote the shock rocker this past Monday (September 21). He then used the opportunity to make a dig at his ex-girlfriends.

"I know everyone will suggest that fucking a pig is how this disease was obtained," he continued. "However, the doctor said, my past choices in women have in no way contributed to me acquiring this mysterious sickness."

As of September, 1 million likely H1N1 infections were reported in the United States, according to the Sioux City Journal. Of those cases, 9,079 resulted in hospitalization and 593 in death.

Those who are not vaccinated have a 30 percent to 70 percent likelihood of contracting H1N1. Dr. Gregory Poland, professor of medicine and infectious diseases at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota, said 25 of every 100,000 people risk hospitalization and one of every 3,000 to 10,000 people who are infected risk death.
