MARTIN WALKYIER To Complete Work On HELL Album
January 3, 2009Martin Walkyier, known by many as the vocalist of SABBAT, SKYCLAD, THE CLAN DESTINED and the recently reformed HELL, and cited by many as the founder of folk metal, will finish the vocals on the HELL "Human Remains" album and take the LP out on the road this summer, accompanied by Kev Bower, Tony Speakman, Tim Bowler and his SABBAT comrade Andy Sneap. He will also write and record new material for THE CLAN DESTINED, which will see him working with a variety of musicians, building on the success of the mini-album "In The Big Ending" and the video for "A Beautiful Start To The End Of The World". SABBAT will also be playing a number of festivals this year, so expect to see the U.K.'s premier thrash act at a festival near you.
Walkyier began his career with SABBAT in the late 1980s. After recording two studio albums with the group, he left SABBAT in 1990 due to differences with other bandmembers. Walkyier then teamed up with guitarist Steve Ramsey (ex-SATAN, PARIAH, BLIND FURY) to form a heavy metal act with strong folk influences, which they called SKYCLAD. Walkyier fronted SKYCLAD through the release of numerous albums, notably "Prince of the Poverty Line", before quitting, apparently frustrated by financial and management decisions made by other bandmembers.
