October 12, 2007

Former MEGADETH guitarist Marty Friedman's web site has been updated with the following message:

"For the second consecutive year, the Japan Iron and Steel Federation is featuring Marty in its annual ad campaign. Starting October 15, life-sized billboards will be up in 21 subway and train stations throughout the entire Tokyo area."

Marty will appear on Beat Takeshi's hit prime time TV show "Daredemo Picasso" on Friday night, October 19 at 10 p.m. on TV Tokyo. This episode celebrates the 35-year career of Ishikawa Sayuri, and will feature Marty as one of the guests. In addition, Marty will perform his own arrangement of one of Ishikawa Sayuri's songs with the legendary Japanese singer in person.

Marty Friedman recently landed a role in a major motion picture in Japan. The movie, called "Gugudatte Neko Dearu", stars Koizumi Kyoko and is slated for a 2008 release. Marty began filming his parts last month and will wrap work on the project in December.

Friedman released the "Exhibit B - Live in Japan" DVD and "Exhibit A - Live in Europe" CD simultaneously in Japan on August 22 by Avex. These feature different setlists, but with the same band members: Jeremy Colson (drums),Ron Jarzombek (WATCHTOWER, SPASTIC INK; guitar) and Chris Catero (bass).

Shockwaves/HardRadio Podcast #17, featuring an interview with Marty Friedman, is now available for download at this location (20 MB). Friedman and host Bob Nalbandian discuss the good old days hanging out in Hollywood, Marty's early years with HAWAII and CACOPHONY, Friedman's years in MEGADETH, and Marty's current mega-success in Japan.
