MARTY FRIEDMAN's New Radio Show To Debut In Japan Next Week
September 13, 2007Japan's top radio station J-Wave 81.3 will host former MEGADETH guitarist Marty Friedman's brand new one-hour show on September 17 at 1:00 a.m. According to a posting on Friedman's web site, "the fast-paced program is called 'Rock A Room' and is talk-based with guests and music, and is filled with Marty's outspoken and unique outlook on music from the East and the West. The first broadcast is on a trial basis. If the listener reaction is good the program will be broadcast on a regular basis so those of you in Japan check it out and fax/email in your support!"
Marty Friedman has landed a role in a major motion picture in Japan. The movie, called "Gugudatte Neko Dearu", stars Koizumi Kyoko and is slated for a 2008 release. Marty began filming his parts last week and will wrap work on the project in December.
Friedman released the "Exhibit B - Live in Japan" DVD and "Exhibit A - Live in Europe" CD simultaneously in Japan on August 22 by Avex. These feature different setlists, but with the same band members: Jeremy Colson (drums),Ron Jarzombek (WATCHTOWER, SPASTIC INK; guitar) and Chris Catero (bass).
Shockwaves/HardRadio Podcast #17, featuring an interview with Marty Friedman, is now available for download at this location (20 MB). Friedman and host Bob Nalbandian discuss the good old days hanging out in Hollywood, Marty's early years with HAWAII and CACOPHONY, Friedman's years in MEGADETH, and Marty's current mega-success in Japan.
