MASTODON Jamming With THIN LIZZY Guitarist: Video Footage Available

March 25, 2009

Atlanta-based hard rock behemoths MASTODON recently confirmed that they hope to be joined onstage at U.K.'s Sonisphere festival by THIN LIZZY guitarist Scott Gorham to play a live version of classic track "Emerald".

Rock Sound magazine has posted world-exclusive footage (see below) of MASTODON meeting Scott Gorham and playing "Emerald" live at the Gibson Studios in London.

The full report can be found in this month's issue of Rock Sound magazine as journalist Andrew Kelham documents history in the making.

In a recent interview with Thrash Hits, MASTODON guitarist Bill Kelliher stated about Scott Gorham, "He was one of the coolest fucking guys I've ever met — we just joked around and talked shit. Brent and I picked up acoustic guitars with Scott and we played 'The Emerald' together and it was great. He even gave me his email! We were talking about having him onstage to play with us at Knebworth and we'll play 'The Emerald'. We'll have three guitar solos from three different guitar players up there and we'll extend it. He seemed joyous about it."

The METALLICA-headlined inaugural Sonisphere festival is set to take place on August 1-2 at the legendary Knebworth Park, United Kingdom.

MASTODON's long-awaited new studio album, "Crack The Skye", was released yesterday (Tuesday, March 24).

The band will embark on a spring U.S. headlining tour in support of "Crack The Skye". The group will perform the album in its entirety along with career-spanning surprises and plenty of visual stimulus in store. This first tour behind the groundbreaking new album will sweep across the U.S. and Canada, playing to smaller theaters and clubs to insure a maximum and up-close intimate environment in which to be exposed to brand new songs and old favorites for MASTODON fans. Support on the trek will come from KYLESA and INTRONAUT.
