MEGADETH Drummer: 'This Is The Best Lineup We've Had' For GIGANTOUR

April 11, 2008

Alan Sculley of The Caller-Times recently conducted an interview with MEGADETH drummer Shawn Drover. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow:

On his first tour with MEGADETH in 2004:

"The tour was initially proposed as a farewell tour. But during the course of that, it really didn't take long to realize that something really cool was going on with the band and with the fans, too. A very high percentage of that entire tour was sold out, which is really a great thing. ... The whole thing was a pretty positive experience, so I guess at some point there, (Dave Mustaine) started saying or thinking to himself, 'Hey, maybe we should continue to work.' So that's kind of how it went down."

On the lineup of support acts for the current Gigantour, which includes IN FLAMES, CHILDREN OF BODOM, JOB FOR A COWBOY and HIGH ON FIRE:

"Really... I think this is the best lineup we've had for our festival. I'm just really excited about it, and I think everybody who is going to see the show is going to be really happy when they leave."

On the surprises the group has planned for the fans:

"Obviously we have to play a lot of the same songs that we've been playing throughout our career and stuff. Otherwise, we'd probably get maimed by our fans. But I think we're going to pull out a couple of surprises musically."
